CADDIE PROGRAM
Cog Hill has had a caddie program since 1991. "Our caddies are getting better every year with extra experience," says Jeff Rimsnider, the caddie superintendent. Boys and girls over 14 caddie on all four Cog Hill courses. "It's really a great program," adds Rimsnider. "Not only are the caddies earning money, but they are being introduced to the wonderful game of golf."
After caddying for two years, youngsters can apply for an Evans college scholarship through the Western Golf Association. Along with financial need, requirements for the scholarship are that the candidate must be in the upper quarter of his/her class, and must also demonstrate outstanding character, integrity and leadership. The scholarship covers tuition, books, and room and board.
Applications are available from Jeff Rimsnider.
Cog Hill has had three caddies qualify for the Evans Scholarship. Ken Kraft of Crestwood, our most recent recipient, began studies at Marquette University in the fall of 2003. Previous scholarship winners, Nick Stahl (Joliet) and Peter Harris (Lockport), attended the University of Illinois. We wish Ken success in all of his endeavors and look forward to having him back as a caddie this season.
Golfers who arrange for one of our caddies should contact the golf shop 48 hours prior to
the round. The caddie will be sent to the first tee of the course the golfer is playing. Caddie
fees for 2004 are $20.00 plus tip, which should be paid by the golfer at the end of the round.
